Botanical House by Mim Design — where even the most understated pieces carry all the attributes of a modern heirloom.
In Australia, there are few firms’ works that holds the attention longer than that of Mim Design. Founded and led by Miriam Fanning, Mim Design’s architecture and interiors are underscored by a strong point of view, precise execution and quality finishes. For this project, Arthur G worked with the interior design team on two custom Lexi Ottomans for the most romantic room of the home – the bedroom.
When even the most understated pieces demand such a high level of detail and execution, the commitment to design excellence and craftsmanship is unmistakable. A Lexi Ottoman with custom dimensions was designed to sit in perfect harmony at the end of the bed. Contrast velvet piping and button detailing across the pattern-matched top was no simple feat. The delicate, 18th-century-inspired embroidered textile from Rubelli has a hand-finished quality, with the piece quietly holding its own sitting opposite a work by Bill Henson.
In the second of five bedrooms, another Lexi Ottoman with custom dimensions has been finished in a fine linen blend upholstery, with contrast linen piping and button detailing across the top, delivering a quieter mood and contrasting finish to the more decorative Rubelli selection previous.
Across both rooms, each space delivers a feeling that is harmonious and individual to the client’s needs – something that has been delicately translated into real life by Mim Design’s interior design team.
By working with Arthur G, Mim Design were able to execute their vision for Botanical House while delivering a piece with all the attributes of a modern heirloom. The internal construction comprising GECA-certified materials ensures that the time and investment in a single piece can be treasured now, and passed onto the next generation.
When even the smallest items imbue craftsmanship, quality and a clear design intent, our lives are richer for it. Beautiful imagery offers a glimpse into these spaces — somewhere to always return to, even if only in the imagination.
